The Biggest Little Fair in North Dakota

The Slope County Farmers Fair is the longest continuous running fair in North Dakota. The first Fair was held in Amidon on August 27-28, 1920. A Canning demonstration, child welfare demonstration and farm demonstrations with a band concert were listed for morning activities. The afternoon events included a parade to the ball park, a ball game and a wild west show (rodeo). The second afternoon had an added attraction of an exhibition flight by Lieutenant Cameron. For $15 you could also have a 15 minute airplane ride. A moving picture " When the Clouds Roll By" starring Douglas Fairbanks followed by a dance in Inman Hall concluded the evenings events.
Todays events include open class and 4-H exhibits, 4-H livestock shows and sale, Mud Volleyball, Barrel Racing, Rodeo, kids games, bouncy houses, Kids Treasure hunt, an evening show with local talent, a one room school house display, an old fashion threshing demonstration and a quilt show by the local quilters. Food vendors, a beer garden, the Rib fest on Saturday, and a pig roast on Sunday, all to be topped off with homemade pie are also provided for you enjoyment.
